Journal quilts

I have several times taken part in the Contemporary Quilt challenge of making a small quilt every month for a year. Each time there are some rules – size, or colour, or shape. This gallery has some examples from each year. Please click on thumbnails to see a larger image.

Life drawing Journals

All of this year's journals are 6 x 12 inches, and are all based on life drawings I've done.

colour themed Journals

I used a different theme for each third of the year: The first set had were mainly red, with the number of leaves matching the number of the month; the next set are yellow, and the last months of the year are blue.  They are A4 size.

folk design Journals

These are 6 x 12 inches, and most of my pieces were based on folk costumes and clothing.

2007 Journal quilts

These are the first set of journal quilts. I made most of my pieces about Tan-y-Bwlch, the beach close to where I lived in west Wales. I enjoyed the process so much that I also made a series for my grand-daughter, about something she did each month. There are three of these in the gallery.
